Stakeholder engagement in AI policy

Part of: Annex A.2: Policies Related to AI

Description

Policy ensuring diverse stakeholder participation in AI policy development, including affected communities and domain experts.

Implementation Guidance

Stakeholder Identification

Map all AI stakeholder groups: internal (employees, management, board), external (customers, regulators, affected communities, civil society), and technical (AI researchers, ethicists, domain experts). Prioritize engagement based on impact and influence.

Engagement Methods

Establish structured engagement channels: public comment periods for AI policies, stakeholder advisory panels, community impact workshops, and feedback mechanisms for AI system users. Document engagement outcomes and how feedback influenced policy decisions.

Ongoing Consultation

Schedule periodic stakeholder reviews (at minimum annually or when significant AI system changes occur). Ensure underrepresented groups have accessible participation channels.

Evidence Requirements

  • Stakeholder register with engagement plan
  • Consultation records and feedback summaries
  • Policy change log showing stakeholder-driven updates
