Implement clear disclosure when: users interact with AI chatbots or virtual assistants, AI significantly influences decisions affecting individuals (lending, hiring, insurance), AI-generated content is presented as outputs, and AI systems monitor or profile individuals.
Disclosure Mechanisms
Use context-appropriate disclosure: visual indicators in user interfaces (AI badge, chatbot disclaimer), disclosure statements in communications, AI transparency notices in terms of service, and proactive notification when AI replaces previously human-performed functions.
Transparency Register
Maintain a public or internal AI transparency register listing all deployed AI systems, their purpose, the types of decisions they influence, and how individuals can obtain more information or contest AI-influenced decisions.
